Washington: Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh has stated that Pakistan possesses strong and long-term capacity for building profitable economic partnerships. He made these remarks during a meeting with members of prominent American think tanks in Washington, attended by representatives from leading US intellectual and policy circles.
According to Radio Pakistan, detailed discussions were held on Pakistan-US bilateral relations, as well as the regional and global situation. Rizwan Saeed Sheikh presented Pakistan's perspective on key regional and international issues to the American intellectual community, emphasizing that 2025 was a year of pivotal transformations in Pakistan-US relations. He asserted that improved relations between the two countries are neither optional nor temporary, stressing the necessity for sustainable bilateral ties in the future.
Highlighting Pakistan's role in global affairs, the Ambassador stated that Pakistan has consistently played a significant role in promoting regional and international peace and stability. He noted that the partnership between Pakistan and the United States has been productive in advancing mutual interests and contributing to global peace. Commitment to enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as minerals, energy, and information technology has added a new dimension to bilateral relations.
The Ambassador further mentioned that over 65 percent of Pakistan's population comprises youth, which holds significant potential to address human resource shortages in the United States and globally. He invited American investors and the manufacturing sector to benefit from Pakistan's competitive advantage in terms of lower costs and better quality.
Rizwan Saeed Sheikh also discussed the impact of terrorism originating from Afghanistan and Pakistan's constructive role in addressing this challenge, reaffirming Pakistan's determination to eradicate terrorism. He emphasized Pakistan's priority for diplomatic resolutions of disputes and highlighted that events in May 2025 demonstrated Pakistan's resilience in defending its sovereignty and national dignity.
He expressed concerns over Indian aggression in May 2025, which posed serious threats to regional peace. The Kashmir issue was also emphasized, with the Ambassador advocating for a just and lasting resolution in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and United Nations resolutions, deeming it crucial for regional and global peace, development, and stability.
The Ambassador criticized India's unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty as unlawful and urged the international community to take notice of the dangerous practice of using water as a weapon. Participants from American think tanks appreciated Pakistan's foreign policy, its positive role in global politics, and its mature and effective diplomacy.
