Pakistan Makes Significant Gains in Global University Rankings

Islamabad: Pakistan has registered a marked improvement in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, with nearly fifty national institutions securing places on the global list.

According to Radio Pakistan, forty-eight universities from Pakistan have been ranked this year, while several others achieved the ‘Reporter’ status, a category for institutions that submitted data but did not fully meet eligibility criteria for ranking.

Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) led the country, placed in the 401-500 band. It was followed by Air University, COMSATS University Islamabad, and the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), all ranked within the 601-800 range.

Other notable institutions include the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), the University of the Punjab, and the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila, which were ranked in the 801-1000 band.
