Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan and Iran’s steadfast commitment to working cohesively for global peace and the unity of the Muslim Ummah. He shared these sentiments during a meeting with the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who visited Islamabad with a delegation.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister warmly welcomed the Iranian delegation, reflecting on the cordial bilateral relations between the two brotherly Muslim nations. He emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy as peaceful means to resolve global disputes and extended respect to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and President Masoud Pazeshkian.
Shehbaz Sharif condemned state-sponsored terrorism and highlighted that both countries have been victims of terrorism, hence their strong resolve for global peace and regional cooperation. He expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest, such as economic development and bilateral trade.
Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support in the recent Iran-Israel conflict, acknowledging the appreciation felt by the Iranian people. He affirmed the shared belief in the unity of the Muslim Ummah and the pursuit of global peace.
The Speaker also expressed special gratitude to Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, recognizing the positive cooperation between the parliaments of both countries. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in economic development and trade.
The meeting was also attended by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi.
