New York: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has stated that Pakistan is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Speaking at a news conference in New York, Ahmad emphasized that Pakistan is closely monitoring the situation arising from India’s aggressive actions and is ready to seek a UN Security Council meeting when deemed appropriate.
According to Radio Pakistan, the envoy highlighted that the Security Council has the mandate to address such issues, and it would be legitimate for any member, including Pakistan, to request a meeting. Ambassador Asim further addressed the offer by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who has extended his good offices to both India and Pakistan to help de-escalate tensions. He expressed that Pakistan has welcomed this initiative and has consistently shown its willingness to cooperate with any peace efforts led by UN Secretaries-General.
