Pakistan Elected as Member of UNIDO’s Policy Making Organs


Islamabad: Pakistan has been elected as a member of the United Nations International Development Board for the term 2026-29 and the Programme Budget Committee for the term 2026-27. This development marks a significant achievement for Pakistan as it strengthens its role in international policy-making forums.



According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan’s election to these two policy-making organs of the United Nations International Development Organization demonstrates the trust placed in the country by its member states. Pakistan currently holds the position of President of the International Development Board (IDB).



Pakistan’s priorities in UNIDO are focused on various critical areas, including the strengthening of the agro-industry to ensure food security, achieving zero hunger, creating jobs, alleviating poverty, establishing sustainable supply chains, and promoting the use of artificial intelligence and green technologies.



Industry remains a fundamental aspect of Pakistan’s national agenda for sustainable economic transformation. Guided by Vision 2050, URAAN Pakistan, and the National Industrial Policy, the government is actively pursuing structural reforms aimed at enhancing industrial productivity.
