Pakistan Denies Allegations of Denying Entry to Hindu Pilgrims

Islamabad: Pakistan has categorically rejected allegations suggesting that members of the Hindu community were denied entry into its territory. The claims have been labeled as unfounded and misleading by Pakistani officials.

According to Radio Pakistan, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Husaain Andrabi responded to media inquiries by stating that these allegations are entirely baseless and represent an effort to distort facts and politicize an issue that is purely administrative in nature. Andrabi highlighted that the High Commission for Pakistan in New Delhi had recently issued over 2,400 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India for the celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji, which took place from the fourth to the 13th of this month.

The spokesperson further clarified that on Tuesday last, a total of 1,932 pilgrims successfully crossed into Pakistan via the Attari-Wagah border. Andrabi noted that approximately 300 visa holders were prevented by Indian authorities from crossing over. He emphasized that the immigration process on the Pakistani side was smooth, orderly, and free from any hindrance.

Tahir Husaain Andrabi explained that a very small number of individuals were found to have incomplete documentation and were unable to provide satisfactory responses to immigration authorities. As a result, they were asked to return to the Indian side in accordance with standard procedures. He emphasized that suggesting these individuals were denied entry on religious grounds is completely incorrect and mischievous.

He reiterated that Pakistan has always welcomed pilgrims of all faiths to visit its sacred religious sites under a well-established and facilitative framework. The actions taken were purely administrative, consistent with Pakistan’s sovereign right to regulate entry into its territory.

The spokesperson concluded by stating that any attempt to frame this issue in a communal or political context is regrettable and reflective of a prejudiced mindset that increasingly dominates Indian government and media narratives.
