Pakistan Committed to Host Major Sports Events: PM


Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif hosted a dinner in honor of the visiting South African cricket team and the national cricket team in Islamabad. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister welcomed the South African cricket team to Pakistan and said that this cricket series symbolizes mutual respect and good sports relations between the two countries.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to promoting international sports and maintaining a conducive environment for hosting major sports events. He expressed that cricket is not just a game but a means to connect people from different countries. The Prime Minister highlighted that cricket promotes brotherhood and peace, stressing the need to uphold the original spirit of the game.



The Prime Minister also noted that Pakistan has excellent relations with South Africa at various levels, with cricket being a significant aspect of this relationship. He acknowledged the achievements of South African cricketers and the accolades earned by Pakistani cricketers globally. Shehbaz Sharif extended his best wishes to both teams and expressed hope for an exciting series.



The management and players of the South African team expressed their gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for their hospitality. They remarked that the ongoing series has been a memorable experience, with overwhelming support and applause from Pakistani fans.



During the series, Pakistan and South Africa have played two Test matches. The three-match T-20 series is set to begin on Tuesday, followed by three One Day International matches.
