New york: At the United Nations, Pakistan has urged India to end its state terrorism and abide by its obligations under international law, including the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir. The statement was delivered by Counsellor Gul Qaiser Sarwani in response to remarks made by an Indian delegate during the UNSC open debate titled “The United Nations Organization: Looking into the Future”.
According to Radio Pakistan, Sarwani emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir remains a significant issue in South Asia, describing it as an internationally recognized disputed territory. He highlighted that India initially brought the matter to the UN Security Council and committed to a UN-supervised plebiscite but has since withdrawn from these commitments, opting instead for a substantial military presence aimed at controlling the region. Sarwani asserted that this represents the densest military occupation of the current era.
Counsellor Sarwani further detailed the severe human rights violations occurring in the Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, including mass graves, enforced disappearances, custodial killings, sexual violence, demographic changes, and media blackouts. He also criticized the influence of Hindutva ideology, which he claims has positioned India as a major source of global hatred.
