Pakistan Calls for Resolving Disputes Fueling Humanitarian Crises

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has called for urgent global action to address escalating humanitarian crises. Addressing the UN General Assembly during a debate on Humanitarian Assistance, he emphasized that unresolved conflicts remain the primary driver of humanitarian need.

According to Radio Pakistan, Asim Iftikhar reiterated that humanitarian assistance cannot substitute for political solutions. The Ambassador stated that mechanisms for the peaceful settlement of disputes, including preventive diplomacy, mediation, and the good offices of the Secretary-General, must be strengthened to resolve longstanding conflicts and disputes.

He emphasized the urgent need for full respect of international humanitarian and human rights laws, protection of civilians and infrastructure, and unimpeded humanitarian access.
