WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has stated that Pakistan is prepared to support a neutral, transparent, and credible investigation into the Pahalgam incident, contingent upon India’s agreement.
According to Radio Pakistan, in an exclusive interview with Fox News, Ambassador Sheikh expressed that Pakistan is awaiting a response from India, which has yet to provide a positive reply. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and the desire to prevent any escalation. He called upon the United States to assume a constructive role in mitigating regional tensions and to consider the broader context of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, a core issue between Pakistan and India.
Ambassador Rizwan underscored the region’s status as a nuclear flashpoint, warning that any miscalculation or aggressive action could have dire consequences for millions. He highlighted the opportunity for the U.S. President, who has shown an interest in global peace promotion, to assist in defusing these tensions.
He urged the international community to address the root cause of instability in South Asia, identifying the Kashmir issue as central to achieving enduring peace. The Ambassador emphasized that ignoring the current situation is not an option, and that the world, particularly the United States, shares a responsibility in promoting international peace and security.
