Islamabad: Pakistan has been appointed to several important subsidiary bodies of the United Nations Security Council.
According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan will serve as Chair of the UN Security Council Committee which monitors sanctions measures against the Taliban. This role places Pakistan at the forefront of efforts to ensure compliance with sanctions aimed at maintaining international peace and security.
Additionally, Pakistan has been named Vice Chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee, a position tasked with overseeing the implementation of resolutions concerning international counter-terrorism efforts. This appointment highlights Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to combating global terrorism and contributing to international security strategies.
In further recognition of its diplomatic engagement, Pakistan has also been appointed Co-Chair of the Security Council’s Informal Working Group on documentation and working methods. This role involves collaborating on improving the efficiency and transparency of the Security Council’s procedural operations.
These appointments are seen as a reflection of Pakistan’s active contributions to the United Nations and its consistent support for multilateralism, underscoring its role as a key player in international diplomacy and security.
