Pakistan and Yemen Express Desire to Unlock Trade Opportunities


Islamabad: Pakistan and Yemen have expressed confidence that improved logistics and revival of formal cooperation mechanisms will help unlock new opportunities for trade and investment between the two countries. Consensus to this effect was reached at a meeting between Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal and Ambassador of Yemen to Pakistan Mohammed Motahar Alashabi in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Ambassador expressed Yemen’s desire to expand commercial engagement with Pakistan. He emphasized the need to revive and operationalize existing bilateral agreements and strengthen institutional mechanisms to facilitate trade.



Jam Kamal reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepen economic cooperation with Yemen. The Minister observed that Pakistan’s growing entrepreneurial and SME sectors can greatly benefit from improved access to close-proximity markets such as Yemen, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Oman.
