Pakistan and Vietnam Initiate Negotiations on Preferential Trade Agreement


Islamabad: Pakistan and Vietnam have commenced discussions on a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) aimed at enhancing trade, investment, and economic collaboration between the two nations. These negotiations represent a significant step toward fostering closer economic ties.



According to Radio Pakistan, a Pakistan-Vietnam Business Forum meeting took place in Islamabad, with Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Diªn co-chairing the session. During his address, the Commerce Minister highlighted the Vietnamese Minister’s visit as an indication of both countries’ commitment to transforming their long-standing friendship into a robust future-oriented economic partnership.



Nguyen Hong Diªn remarked that the PTA would expand export markets, boost resilience against global economic challenges, and provide new avenues for sustainable and inclusive growth. Both ministers also reaffirmed their dedication to deepening cooperation in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
