Islamabad: Pakistan and Uzbekistan have signed twenty-nine memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements across multiple sectors. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev witnessed the document exchange ceremony in Islamabad this evening.
According to Radio Pakistan, the areas of cooperation include trade, commerce, defence, agriculture, sports, mining, geosciences, anti-narcotics, information technology, maritime trade, pharmaceuticals, education, and textiles. These agreements aim to enhance bilateral relations and promote mutual growth in the respective fields.
In addition to the agreements, the two leaders signed a joint declaration, further solidifying their commitment to working closely together. On the occasion, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was conferred an honorary doctorate degree by the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), marking a significant gesture of goodwill and recognition from Pakistan.
