Islamabad: Pakistan and the United Kingdom have emphasized joint measures to further strengthen their bilateral trade and economic relations, with special focus on the railways sector. The emphasis was laid during a meeting between Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi and British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott in Islamabad on Wednesday. The meeting discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in the railways sector.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister called for a comprehensive strategy between Pakistan and the United Kingdom for development and modernization of railways. He said Pakistan is ready to fully benefit from UK’s expertise in modernizing the railways infrastructure in the country and improving performance of this sector.
The Minister expressed Pakistan’s desire to enhance collaboration with the United Kingdom for promoting the use of modern technology in its railways sector. He noted that the two countries will continue to work on projects of mutual interest in this sector, which will not only benefit the economies of both countries but will also improve public transportation.
The two sides agreed that their bilateral economic cooperation is based on a solid foundation.
