Islamabad: Pakistan and Turkiye have reached an agreement to establish a Joint Working Group aimed at fortifying cooperation between their respective interior ministries. This decision emerged from a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Turkish counterpart Ali Yerlikaya, which was followed by delegation-level discussions in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the newly-formed Joint Working Group is set to convene four times annually. The discussions between the two countries were extensive, covering critical areas such as counterterrorism, counter-narcotics, human trafficking, border security, cybercrime, coast guard operations, and police cooperation.

Both nations have committed to enhancing collaboration in the realms of counterterrorism, counter-narcotics, immigration, human trafficking control, and police training. Ali Yerlikaya emphasized Turkiye’s commitment to its fraternal relations with Pakistan and expressed eagerness to broaden cooperation across various sectors. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s significant contributions to counterterrorism and counter-narcotics initiatives.
