Pakistan and Sri Lanka to Establish Joint Working Group on IT and Digital Economy

Colombo: Pakistan and Sri Lanka have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors of mutual interest. This commitment was made during the thirteenth Pakistan-Sri Lanka Joint Economic Commission in Colombo.

According to Radio Pakistan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan led the Pakistani delegation at the session. A significant outcome of the meeting was the decision to establish a Joint Working Group on IT and Digital Economy. This move reflects both countries' resolve to collaborate in emerging technologies and digital transformation.

Discussions during the session also focused on expanding industrial collaboration and increasing bilateral trade in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, Small and Medium Enterprises, agriculture, and livestock. Additionally, avenues for cooperation were explored in the fields of higher education, health, and science and technology.
