Islamabad: Pakistan and Somalia have underscored the importance of deepening military-to-military ties and promoting capacity-building initiatives to counter common security challenges. This commitment was emphasized during a meeting between Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and a high-level Somali delegation, led by Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, which called on him in Rawalpindi today.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, and measures to further enhance bilateral defence and security cooperation. The discussions highlighted the need for both nations to work collaboratively in addressing shared security concerns and fostering a strategic alliance.

The visiting dignitary, Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, expressed appreciation for Pakistan's steadfast support and the professional role played by the Pakistan Armed Forces in promoting regional peace and stability. He acknowledged the significance of Pakistan's contributions towards maintaining security in the region and expressed eagerness to build on the existing partnership.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to supporting Somalia in strengthening its security apparatus and fostering enduring peace in the region. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in military training, capacity-building, and strategic planning to effectively tackle security challenges.
