Pakistan and Slovenia Forge Stronger Bilateral Ties at EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum


Brussels: Pakistan and Slovenia have reached an agreement to maintain regular contact both bilaterally and within multilateral frameworks to advance cooperation in areas of mutual interest. This development was announced following a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon on the sidelines of the fourth EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum in Brussels.



According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions between the two leaders covered the full spectrum of bilateral relations and included exchanges of views on key regional and global developments. A significant outcome of their meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding establishing the mechanism for Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Slovenia. Additionally, Ishaq Dar extended an invitation to Minister Fajon to visit Islamabad for the inaugural round of consultations and encouraged Slovenia’s participation in the Pak-EU Business Forum scheduled for April 2026.



In another diplomatic engagement, Pakistan and Denmark agreed to maintain close contact at multilateral fora, particularly as fellow non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for the term 2025-26. This understanding was reached during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Danish Foreign Minister Lars L¸kke Rasmussen at the same forum. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of Pak-Denmark relations and explored opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as economy, investment, trade, green energy, and people-to-people exchanges.



Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also engaged in discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Constantinos Kombos. During their meeting, both sides exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and agreed to maintain close contact to further these ties.



Further, Ishaq Dar met with David van Weel, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. The ministers discussed areas of bilateral cooperation and noted with appreciation the positive trajectory of relations between Pakistan and the Netherlands.
