Islamabad: Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, has highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation between Pakistan and Romania in various sectors, including trade, investment, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. This statement was made during a meeting with Ilyas Mehmood Nizami, Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Romania, who met with the President in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari congratulated the newly appointed ambassador and advised him to focus on economic diplomacy, aiming to enhance bilateral trade. The President emphasized the need to explore opportunities in renewable energy, technology, and agriculture sectors.
Furthermore, President Zardari underscored the significance of the 2025 Memorandum of Understanding on Trade and Economic Cooperation with the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce, urging for effective follow-up. He also noted the importance of upcoming business delegations from Pakistan, greater engagement with the Pakistani diaspora, and the promotion of Pakistan’s art and culture as part of the celebrations marking 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
