Sharm el-sheikh: Pakistan and Qatar have expressed their shared commitment to deepen cooperation across various fields. The commitment was articulated during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Amir of Qatar Sheikh Thamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
According to Radio Pakistan, during their meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed the strong and historic bilateral relations between Pakistan and Qatar. Prime Minister Sharif praised Qatar’s ongoing efforts for a fair and lasting resolution to the crisis in Gaza. He expressed appreciation for the Amir of Qatar’s leadership and collaboration with other countries, which contributed to the signing of a peace agreement in Sharm El-Sheikh.
While applauding the Gaza peace agreement, Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding position supporting the creation of an independent Palestinian state, based on pre-1967 borders with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital. He also confirmed Pakistan’s ongoing support for humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.
The Amir of Qatar expressed gratitude to Shehbaz Sharif for Pakistan’s solidarity and principled stance on Palestine. He conveyed hope that the international community’s continued attention will foster lasting peace and stability in the region. Both leaders agreed to maintain close engagement on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
