Islamabad: Pakistan and Qatar have agreed to enhance agricultural cooperation and strengthen relations at the business-to-business level. The understanding was reached during a meeting between Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain and Qatari Ambassador to Pakistan, Ali bin Mubarak Al Khater in Islamabad on Wednesday. The meeting discussed prospects of promoting cooperation in the agriculture sector and transforming fraternal relations into an economic partnership.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister stated that Pakistan has vast potential to supply high-quality agricultural products, including halal meat, fruits, vegetables, rice, and livestock fodder. He suggested forming a joint working group in the agriculture sector to develop a formal framework for bilateral cooperation and identify priority projects. Rana Tanveer Hussain also apprised the Qatari ambassador of Pakistan’s new agricultural products, including the production and export of camel milk powder. He invited Qatari investors to invest in Pakistan’s agriculture sector and assured them that the government, under its vision of a business-friendly environment, will facilitate these investments.
The Qatari Ambassador reiterated his country’s resolve to further strengthen relations with Pakistan. He noted that Pakistan has vast agricultural resources and a skilled workforce, which can play a key role in Qatar’s food security vision 2030. He also mentioned that the Qatari Minister of Commerce will soon visit Pakistan to discuss new investment opportunities.
