Pakistan and Norway Reaffirm Commitment Amid Rising Tensions

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, engaged in a telephonic conversation with the Foreign Minister of Norway, Espen Barth Eide, to discuss the escalating regional tensions and the strengthening of bilateral ties.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussion was primarily focused on the deteriorating situation in the region due to India’s illegal attacks on multiple cities across Pakistan. These attacks have resulted in the loss of innocent civilian lives, including women, children, and the elderly. Ishaq Dar highlighted Pakistan’s restraint in response to these violations, which challenge international law and the UN Charter, thus posing a threat to regional peace and security.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity. In response, Norway’s Foreign Minister expressed deep concern over the escalation and extended condolences for the loss of civilian lives. He praised Pakistan’s restraint and emphasized the urgent need for de-escalation and diplomatic efforts to prevent further conflict.

The two leaders also took the opportunity to discuss bilateral relations. The Norwegian Foreign Minister acknowledged the positive impact of the Pakistani diaspora in Norway, contributing significantly to the socio-economic landscape. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation and agreed to remain in close contact regarding the evolving situation.
