Islamabad: Pakistan and Myanmar have expressed their commitment to expand cooperation across diverse sectors, including religious tourism, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, trade, economy, and science with a view to promoting shared prosperity. The resolve was expressed during a joint press stakeout by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, Than Swe, following delegation-level talks in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar highlighted the productive and comprehensive nature of the discussions. He underscored the importance of advancing engagement towards sustained, structured, and results-oriented initiatives to enhance cooperation in capacity building. Dar stressed that the visit of Myanmar's Foreign Minister to Pakistan reflects the significance both countries place on revitalizing and strengthening bilateral relations.
Ishaq Dar emphasized the necessity of resolving contentious issues through dialogue and diplomacy while underscoring the importance of deepening cooperation in academic linkages. He noted that Pakistan and Myanmar enjoy cordial and friendly relations, valuing this partnership and expressing eagerness to further enhance cooperation across mutually beneficial fields.
The Foreign Minister of Myanmar expressed gratitude to the government of Pakistan for the warm hospitality during his visit to Islamabad. Earlier, both sides reviewed the full gamut of bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international peace and security. The two sides also agreed to remain in close contact on matters of mutual interest.
