Islamabad: Pakistan and Myanmar have expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The resolve was expressed by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Myanmar's Foreign Minister Than Swe at the outset of delegation-level talks held at the Foreign Office in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized that Pakistan deeply values its longstanding friendship and cooperation with Myanmar. He noted that the bilateral ties between the two countries are rooted in history and mutual respect. Dar expressed Pakistan's keenness to strengthen these relations through sustained and structured engagement and result-oriented initiatives in areas of mutual interest.
Dar further stated that Pakistan sincerely desires peace, stability, and prosperity for Myanmar and hopes that the forthcoming general elections in Myanmar will contribute to stability, development, and inclusive governance.
Myanmar's Foreign Minister Than Swe, in his remarks, stated that his country will collaborate with Pakistan to promote cooperation in various sectors. He expressed confidence that the meeting will pave the way for future cooperation. Than Swe was warmly welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar upon his arrival at the Foreign Office.
