Pakistan and Kazakhstan Vow to Expand Bilateral Cooperation


Islamabad: Pakistan and Kazakhstan, while expressing their satisfaction on the positive momentum in bilateral ties, have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation between the two countries to its full potential. The commitment was reiterated during a warm and friendly telephone conversation between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister conveyed Eid-ul-Adha greetings to President Tokayev and the people of Kazakhstan. During their conversation, the two leaders reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and exchanged views on various upcoming engagements. The recent Pakistan-India crisis was also discussed, with the Prime Minister briefing the Kazakh President on Pakistan’s efforts for maintaining peace and security in the region.



Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his anticipation for President Tokayev’s visit to Pakistan later this year, during which a number of important agreements and MoUs are expected to be signed between both sides. On the occasion, President Tokayev thanked Prime Minister Sharif for the Eid telephone call and conveyed warm wishes for the people of Pakistan. He mentioned his intent to visit Pakistan by the end of the year, with his visit to be preceded by the visit of the Kazakh Foreign Minister.



Both leaders are also expected to meet during the upcoming Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summits.
