Tehran: Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has expressed confidence in the potential for Pakistan and Iran to elevate the regional economy significantly through mutual cooperation. Speaking at the Pak-Iran Business Forum held in Tehran, Khan highlighted the vital role of collaboration between the two nations in achieving economic milestones.
According to Radio Pakistan, Jam Kamal Khan extended gratitude to Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzana Sadiq for her hospitality, emphasizing that activating border markets, such as the Mand-Pishin sustenance market, would directly benefit the people of both countries. He extended an invitation to Iranian companies to participate in the upcoming Pakistan Agriculture Expo scheduled for November, citing the rich opportunities available through Pakistan’s five-year “Uraan Pakistan” program.
Highlighting the historic ties between the two nations, Jam Kamal Khan expressed a vision for transforming the Pak-Iran friendship into a robust economic partnership. Iranian Minister Farzana Sadiq echoed this sentiment, noting that the combined economies of Pakistan and Iran could become a pivotal hub for regional development. She expressed interest in joint projects spanning pharmaceuticals, engineered products, and ceramics, and reiterated a commitment to achieving the ten billion dollar trade target soon.
In a gesture of solidarity, the Iranian Minister expressed condolences over the loss of lives due to recent floods in Pakistan. The forum facilitated discussions on increasing bilateral trade, removing customs and tariff barriers, and fostering technical cooperation. Both countries also explored the establishment of joint economic zones, expanded agricultural cooperation, and the opening of new trade and investment avenues.
