Pakistan and France Agree to Enhance Cooperation in Mining Sector


Islamabad: Pakistan and France have reached an agreement to collaborate in the areas of surveys, technology transfer, and sustainable practices within the mining sector. This understanding was achieved during a webinar titled “Pakistan’s Minerals Economy: Gateway to Growth,” held in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, the event was a joint effort by the Government of Pakistan and the Embassy of France, with Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik and French Ambassador Nicolas Galey co-chairing the session. French President’s Mining Advisor Benjamin Gallezot led the French delegation online, underscoring the international collaboration on this initiative.



The primary goal of the webinar was to attract investment opportunities for French companies in Pakistan’s mining and minerals sector. The event saw participation from leading Pakistani mining and energy companies, as well as representatives from French businesses.



During his address, the Petroleum Minister emphasized Pakistan’s vast potential in copper, gold, and rare earth elements. He highlighted the significance of green energy and the critical role minerals like copper and lithium play in future technologies. Malik also mentioned the government’s efforts to enhance the ease of doing business in the mining sector.



The French Ambassador, speaking at the event, praised Pakistan’s initiatives to bolster the mining and investment environment. He acknowledged the forum’s effectiveness in showcasing the opportunities available for French companies in Pakistan’s mining sector.
