Pakistan and China Sign MoU to Enhance Cooperation in Quantum Technologies


Islamabad: A high-level delegation from the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation met with Minister for Planning and Development Professor Ahsan Iqbal in Islamabad. During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between China Electronics Technology Group Corporation and the Emerging Technologies Lab to enhance collaboration in research, development, and innovation in the field of quantum technologies.



According to Radio Pakistan, the agreement is designed to promote joint initiatives, knowledge exchange, and capacity building in areas of mutual technological interest. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ahsan Iqbal announced that China would assist Pakistan in establishing the National Center for Quantum Computing, marking a significant step forward in the country’s technological progress.



The Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to the ‘Uraan Pakistan’ initiative, which aims to ensure access to advanced technologies to prepare the nation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He also introduced the Quantum Valley Project, envisaged as Pakistan’s version of Silicon Valley, which will serve as a hub for innovation, technology, and knowledge-based development.



Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that leveraging China’s expertise in modern technology presents a transformative opportunity for Pakistan. He reiterated the significance of technological cooperation as a crucial component under CPEC Phase-II, with a focus on industrial modernization, digital transformation, and human resource development.
