Pakistan and Bangladesh Seek to Strengthen Defense and Security Cooperation


Dhaka: Pakistan and Bangladesh have recognized the importance of strengthening their bilateral defense and security cooperation. This development emerged during separate meetings of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and other military leaders in Dhaka.



According to Radio Pakistan, both sides engaged in detailed discussions on the evolving global and regional environment as well as the security situation. General Sahir Shamshad Mirza reiterated Pakistan’s appreciation for its longstanding fraternal ties with Bangladesh and emphasized the shared resolve to further deepen these relations based on sovereign equality and mutual respect.



Both parties expressed optimism about improving defense and security collaboration, reaffirming their commitment to expanding military-to-military engagements and related initiatives.



During his visit, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee also visited the School of Infantry and Tactics in Sylhet, where he interacted with faculty and students. The civil-military leadership of Bangladesh commended the high professional standards of the Pakistan Armed Forces and their achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
