Islamabad: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have reached an understanding to advance their bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors. This agreement was forged during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Minister for Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, and Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions centered on potential collaboration in areas such as minerals and mining, oil exploration, renewable energy, information technology, regional connectivity, defense, hospitality, tourism, and human resource development. Prime Minister Sharif reviewed the implementation of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements that were initiated during his recent visit to Azerbaijan, and he extended an invitation to Azerbaijani investors to capitalize on Pakistan’s investment opportunities in oil exploration, minerals, mining, renewable energy, and infrastructure.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Sharif commended the Azerbaijani efforts in renovating Islamabad, following the declaration of Islamabad and Baku as twin cities. He also highlighted the commitment from both nations to boost their bilateral trade volume to $2 billion.
Azerbaijani Minister Mikayil Jabbarov conveyed Azerbaijan’s keen interest in fostering trade and cooperation with Pakistan. He expressed satisfaction with the progress made in renewable energy projects, the white oil pipeline, and other investments in Pakistan’s infrastructure. The meeting also covered the Azerbaijani delegation’s engagements in Pakistan, focusing on various sectors and Azerbaijan’s investment in Pakistan’s motorway infrastructure to enhance regional connectivity.
