Pakistan and Afghanistan Agree to Boost High-Level Contacts for Regional Peace


Islamabad: Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed on the importance of maintaining high-level contacts to foster long-term cooperation and promote peace and security in the region and beyond. The understanding was reached during a telephonic conversation between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Muttaqi.



According to Radio Pakistan, both leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress made in bilateral relations since the Deputy Prime Minister’s visit to Afghanistan on April 19, 2025. The discussions focused on enhancing trade, connectivity, economic cooperation, people-to-people contacts, and reactivating political consultative mechanisms.



The Deputy Prime Minister briefed the Acting Afghan Foreign Minister on recent provocations and illegal measures by India against Pakistan, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to peace and sovereignty.



During the conversation, the Acting Afghan Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan’s steps to ease trade and facilitate travel, extending an invitation to the Deputy Prime Minister for another visit to Afghanistan. He also conveyed prayers and best wishes for the government and people of Pakistan.
