Islamabad: Pakistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have agreed to formulate a comprehensive and mutually aligned climate change strategy with a specific focus on carbon credit mobilization. Consensus on this initiative was reached during a meeting between Minister for Climate Change Dr. Musadik Malik and a delegation from the ADB led by Senior Director of Climate Change and Sustainable Development Toru Kubo.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting decided to explore collaborative opportunities in carbon markets and forge a path for a new climate strategy grounded in economic and environmental synergy. Dr. Malik assured ADB of full cooperation in the formulation of the strategy, emphasizing the need for it to remain impact-driven, transparent, and results-oriented.
Toru Kubo reiterated ADB’s strong support by catalyzing investments in low-carbon technologies, advancing carbon finance readiness, and enhancing the ability of countries like Pakistan to access and benefit from global carbon markets.
