Overseas Job Opportunities and Remittances Experience Significant Growth

Islamabad: The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has reported a five percent increase in the number of Pakistani workers sent abroad, along with a nine percent rise in foreign remittances over the past year. This growth highlights the success of recent initiatives aimed at enhancing overseas employment and financial inflows.

According to Radio Pakistan, the ministry revealed that 762,499 Pakistanis were sent overseas in 2025, contributing to approximately 40 billion dollars in remittances during the same period. These figures underscore the impact of strategic measures implemented by the Bureau of Immigration to support overseas job seekers.

The ministry noted that labour mobility agreements finalized with Italy, Belarus, and Iraq played a crucial role in this growth. One significant agreement with Italy includes the allocation of 10,500 workers from Pakistan over a span of three years, allowing about 3,500 Pakistani workers to seek employment annually.

Additionally, the ministry highlighted Qatar's decision to resume work visas for Pakistani workers after a 19-year hiatus, which has broadened job opportunities within the Gulf region. These developments illustrate the ministry's commitment to expanding employment prospects for Pakistanis abroad while enhancing the country's economic stability.
