The opening ceremony of the 33rd modern Olympic Games will be held in Paris on Friday. The first Olympic athletes to arrive in Paris have begun checking into the Olympic Village, just over a week before the official start of the games with the opening ceremonies on Friday. Athletes from Australia, South Africa, Japan, Uruguay, and the United States are among the first to arrive at the village, located in Saint-Denis, adjacent to the city of Paris where most of the competitions will be held.
