Islamabad: Oil exploration at the national level is gaining momentum due to the efforts of the Special Investment Facilitation Council. With SIFC's support, international exploration companies have been contacted.

According to Radio Pakistan, the U.S. Energy Information Administration estimates that Pakistan has 9.1 billion barrels of recoverable but unutilized shale oil reserves.
