Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has condemned Israel for recognizing the so-called "Somaliland" as an independent state. The condemnation came in a resolution adopted during the 22nd Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Jeddah. According to Radio Pakistan, the session was convened at the request of Somalia to address the situation. It rejected Israel's actions, stating that such a move violates the sovereignty, national unity, territorial integrity, and internationally recognized borders of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The resolution affirmed full support for Somalia's sovereignty and expressed unwavering solidarity with its government. In another resolution adopted by the session, the OIC reaffirmed that a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in the Middle East is contingent upon Israel's complete withdrawal from all Palestinian territories occupied since 1967. It emphasized the need to grant the Palestinian people their legitimate right to self-det ermination. The resolution further called for the consolidation and sustainability of the ceasefire, cessation of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, and advancement to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement as outlined in the Security Council Resolution.
