Numerous Programs Initiated Regarding Women Empowerment: Azma Bukhari

Lahore: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has announced that the government has initiated numerous programs focused on women empowerment. In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan correspondent Zunera Khalid, in reference to International Women’s Day, she emphasized that women should be acknowledged every day, not merely on a singular occasion.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister recognized the important contributions of women, whether they are homemakers, professionals, or public servants, asserting that they are contributing toward society to make it more prosperous. Azma Bukhari highlighted that Maryam Nawaz, as Punjab’s first female Chief Minister, is devoted to empowering women and addressing their issues while prioritizing women’s empowerment and overcoming their challenges.

She commended women for their diligence and commitment in every sector. The Minister also outlined various initiatives launched by the Punjab government, including the Pink Button initiative to combat harassment issues and the establishment of virtual police stations, which provide services to women who may be reluctant to visit traditional police facilities.

The Minister pointed out that women in Punjab are actively participating in various roles without facing discrimination, noting that many Assistant Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners working in the province are women, marking a significant achievement in the province’s history. Azma Bukhari encouraged all women to recognize their strengths and to contribute positively to their families, communities, and the nation, whether they are at home or in the workforce.
