NHA to Outsource Management of Commercial Activities Along Highways

Karachi: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced a plan to regulate commercial activities along national highways across the country. The decision aims to increase revenue and reduce the burden on the national exchequer.

According to Radio Pakistan, the NHA has invited tenders to outsource the management of the Right of Way, which includes the collection of NOC fees and annual rents from entities such as hotels and petrol pumps. This move is part of an initiative to foster public-private partnerships and create new employment and business opportunities in regions including Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and other areas along highways N-5 to N-80.

The NHA is calling for eligible firms with an annual net worth of 300 million rupees to participate in the tender process. Financial bids for the project are scheduled to be opened on the 25th of this month, offering an opportunity for private companies to engage in the management of commercial spaces along the nation's highways.
