NDMA Issues Weather Alert for Upper and Central Regions of Pakistan

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for rain accompanied by strong winds, gusty winds, and thunderstorms expected in the upper and central regions of Pakistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, from the 20th to the 23rd of this month.

According to Radio Pakistan, the NDMA has released an advisory detailing the potential weather conditions and the associated risks. The advisory highlights the possibility of damage to weak trees, mud walls, and structures during the forecasted weather events. The NDMA has urged residents to avoid weak structures, mud walls, electric poles, and billboards during storms for safety reasons.

The advisory also recommends that vehicles should be parked under sheds or in other safe locations to prevent damage. Additionally, the public is advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility during storms, which could increase the risk of accidents.

The NDMA has instructed all relevant agencies to implement proactive measures to manage any potential emergencies that may arise from the adverse weather conditions. Furthermore, the public is encouraged to use the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert App for real-time weather updates and hazard awareness.
