NDMA Issues Alert for Rain and Hailstorms Across Pakistan

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority has issued an alert regarding strong western weather systems, which are expected to bring rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and potential hailstorms in various parts of Pakistan from Tuesday until Saturday.

According to Radio Pakistan, the alert indicates that these weather conditions are likely to affect all provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. However, Sindh is expected to experience hot and dry conditions, with no significant rainfall forecast during this period.

The NDMA has urged all provincial and district authorities to ensure emergency preparedness, remain vigilant, and coordinate with local response units for timely action. They have emphasized the importance of being proactive to mitigate any potential hazards that may arise due to the anticipated weather changes.

Additionally, the authority has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in hilly and flood-prone areas. Residents are encouraged to secure weak structures, trees, power lines, and solar panels, and to park vehicles in secure and covered locations. Travellers and tourists are also encouraged to exercise caution during outdoor activities and mountain excursions to ensure their safety.

Farmers have been specifically advised to take necessary precautions to protect their standing crops from potential hailstorms and gusty winds, which could cause significant damage if not properly anticipated and managed.
