NDMA Briefs National Workshop Balochistan Delegation on Disaster Preparedness


Islamabad: A delegation of participants from the National Workshop Balochistan visited the National Emergencies Operation Center at the National Disaster Management Authority Headquarters in Islamabad today. During this visit, the delegation received a briefing on the National Proactive approach towards Disaster Management, encompassing NDMA’s mandate, organizational structure, and its comprehensive mechanism for disaster risk management across Pakistan.



According to Radio Pakistan, the participants were informed about NEOC’s real-time monitoring and coordination functions for national-level emergency response. This includes early warning dissemination and data integration from relevant stakeholders. NDMA experts detailed the NEOC’s advanced monitoring and forecasting systems, which ensure the timely transmission of early warning information to all concerned institutions, allowing for prompt preventive and preparedness actions.



The NDMA team emphasized the central coordination role and the integration of modern technologies for preparedness planning, risk communication, and emergency response operations during Monsoon 2025. The visiting members expressed their appreciation for NDMA’s proactive approach in strengthening national resilience through anticipatory planning and inter-agency coordination.



NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Hiader Malik addressed the participants, highlighting the importance of disaster preparedness and early warning systems in the context of natural disasters. He identified climate change as a new global norm and emphasized the need for strategies to mitigate losses resulting from it. Inam Hiader Malik stated that NDMA is focused on devising strategies to tackle threats from rains, floods, and earthquakes.
