Islamabad: Pakistan Navy Day was observed today to pay homage to the heroes of the 1965 war who fought against a much bigger adversary with absolute courage and sacrificed their lives to defend the motherland. This day commemorates the "Operation Dwarka", codenamed "Operation SOMNATH", in which Pakistan Navy's seven major warships proceeded on an audacious mission inside enemy territory.

According to Radio Pakistan, they destroyed significant shore installations including an Indian radar station and a radio beacon at Dwarka, and inflicted irreparable damage to Indian pride. During the 1965 war, Pakistan Navy submarine, Ghazi, emerged as a formidable deterrent, symbolizing Pakistan's operational superiority and raising stakes for the enemy harboring hostile intentions towards the homeland.
