Naval Chief Addresses Evolving Maritime Security Threats

Lahore: Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, has emphasized the significance of recognizing the changing dynamics of modern warfare and the rising maritime security threats. He addressed the participants of the 54th PN Staff Course during his visit to the Pakistan Navy War College in Lahore.

According to Radio Pakistan, Admiral Ashraf highlighted the necessity for traditional military strategies to evolve in order to tackle the complexities of both traditional and non-traditional security challenges. He elaborated on the maritime challenges confronting Pakistan and the available response options, noting the fluid and contested nature of the Indian Ocean Region.

The Naval Chief pointed out that recent geopolitical shifts and power rivalries continue to impact the security environment in the Indian Ocean Region. He cited recent crises between Pakistan and India, along with the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel, as examples of this dynamic environment.

Admiral Ashraf stressed that conventional, one-dimensional warfare studies are now outdated. He asserted that future wars require a re-evaluation of legacy war-fighting strategies and the development of a future-ready workforce that is both intellectually and technologically adept.

He concluded by congratulating the graduating officers on their successful completion of the PN Staff Course, urging them to be meticulous, analytical, and innovative in their future roles.
