Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that the Prime Minister, Army Chief, and all stakeholders are unified in their efforts to combat terrorism. Chairing the second meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee in Islamabad, he emphasized that no decisions would be made without consulting the provinces.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting focused on enhancing the capacity of Counter-Terrorism Departments across provinces. Naqvi stressed the importance of fully activating these departments at the provincial level for an effective counter-terrorism response. He assured that all possible assistance will be provided to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, given their unique challenges.
The Interior Minister also highlighted plans to fully activate the Counter-Terrorism Wing of the FIA at the federal level. The meeting reviewed progress on the establishment of National and Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centers. Naqvi noted that following the reorganization of the Frontier Constabulary, it is being transformed into the National Reserve Police.
Furthermore, the meeting agreed to make explosive materials a federal subject to ensure effective monitoring. It was also decided to address the issue of terrorism with the Afghan government through the Foreign Ministry. The Interior Minister stressed the importance of all institutions strictly implementing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the security of foreign nationals.
