Naqvi Directs to Expedite Work on Capital Smart City Project


Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed the officials concerned to expedite work on the Capital Smart City project in Islamabad. He was speaking during his visit to Safe City headquarters in Islamabad today along with Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhary.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister emphasized that basic civic facilities such as Rescue 1122, traffic, and security will be integrated into the central system of the smart city. He stated that the Capital Smart City project will serve as a model to transform Islamabad into the safest city.



The Minister also mentioned plans to extend the scope of the smart city initiative to the entire country. He requested a comprehensive plan from the officials concerned to transition Islamabad Safe City into the Capital Smart City.



During the visit, IG Islamabad Police provided a detailed briefing on the challenges related to the transition from Safe City to Capital Smart City. The Minister took the opportunity to review the monitoring system of Islamabad Safe City and inspected the security surveillance at the special Chinese desk in the control room.



Furthermore, he announced that vehicles without M-tag will be prohibited from entering Islamabad starting from the 1st of next month.
