Islamabad: The National Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution, commending the armed forces for their professionalism, vigilance, and courage in defending Pakistan’s sovereignty in response to unprovoked Indian aggression.
According to Radio Pakistan, the resolution, moved by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, also commended the armed forces’ exceptional restraint, responsibility, and measured response to the Indian aggression. It paid tribute to the brave martyrs who laid down their lives in defense of the motherland, acknowledging their supreme sacrifice as a symbol of national pride, resilience, and unity.
The House, through the resolution, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting the Pakistani nation dignity and honor in defending the motherland’s territorial integrity. It congratulated the entire nation for rising above differences and standing united behind its leadership across the political spectrum with one voice.
The resolution extended gratitude to friendly countries for their support to Pakistan at this critical juncture. The National Assembly reiterated its pledge to regional and global peace, underscoring that democracies are committed to dialogue, not conflict. It highlighted that secure neighborhoods and long-term stability in South Asia can only be achieved through sincere and structured negotiations.
The resolution urged authorities to actively engage the international community in efforts to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and relevant UN Security Council resolutions. It stressed the importance of full implementation of the Indus Water Treaty and affirmed safeguarding Pakistan’s water rights as crucial for national security.
Furthermore, the resolution expressed the House’s resolve to continue playing its constitutional role in safeguarding national interests and promoting peace, unity, and security for the people of Pakistan and the region.
Earlier, the National Assembly was informed that the latest Household Income Expenditure Survey has been completed to facilitate better planning for poverty alleviation. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry stated that the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics is compiling the survey data, with new estimates expected by the end of the year and a final report next year. He added that current relief measures are based on data from 2018-2019.
In response to another query, Parliamentary Secretary for Privatization Aasia Ishaque Siddiqui mentioned that the privatization process of Pakistan International Airlines is likely to be completed by the end of this year.
The House offered Fateha for 31 innocent civilians, including women, children, and personnel of the armed forces, who lost their lives in recent Indian aggression against Pakistan. Fateha was also offered for security forces personnel martyred in terrorist incidents in Balochistan, led by Ali Muhammad Khan.
Additionally, the National Assembly passed ‘The Special Technology Zones Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2025’ and ‘The National Commission for Minority Rights Bill, 2025,’ moved by Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar. The House is set to meet again on Tuesday at 11 in the morning.
