NA Calls for Global Intervention on Kashmir and Condemns Balochistan Terrorism

Islamabad: The National Assembly today passed a significant resolution, urging the United Nations and the international community to play an active role in resolving the Kashmir dispute. At the same session, the Assembly strongly condemned recent terrorist incidents in Balochistan, showcasing a dual focus on both regional peace and internal security.

According to Radio Pakistan, the resolution addressing the Kashmir issue was moved by Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir. It called on the global community to press India to cease human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, release political prisoners, and allow access to international human rights observers. The resolution also welcomed US President Donald Trump's initial offer to mediate the conflict following tensions between Pakistan and India.

The National Assembly paid tribute to the resilience of the Kashmiri people and expressed unwavering solidarity with them, demanding the reversal of India's actions from 5th August 2019. The resolution emphasized that the settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute must adhere to United Nations Security Council resolutions, rejecting any unilateral decisions by India, particularly concerning the Indus Waters Treaty, as these threaten regional peace.

In a separate discussion, the National Assembly condemned the terrorist activities in Balochistan. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary moved a resolution commending the swift action of security forces and expressing solidarity with the families affected by the incidents. The House highlighted concerns about terrorist networks exploiting women and emphasized zero tolerance for attacks on civilians.

The Assembly raised alarms about external influences, particularly pointing to India's alleged involvement in supporting terrorism through financial and logistical means. A coordinated national response was demanded to counter these foreign and internal threats. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhary asserted that Pakistan would triumph in its fight against terrorism, citing the killing of 177 terrorists by security forces in Balochistan.

The discussions also focused on the need for unity among political parties and full implementation of the National Action Plan. Members like Aliya Kamran advocated for dialogue to address Balochistan's issues, while others emphasized the strategic importance of Balochistan's natural resources and the necessity for addressing the grievances of its people.

The session underscored the dual challenges faced by Pakistan: addressing internal security threats and advocating for international intervention in longstanding regional disputes.
