Islamabad: Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr. Musadik Malik has warned of escalating economic and human toll of climate-related disasters in Pakistan. He addressed a conference organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature to mark twenty-five years of efforts to conserve the Indus River Dolphin in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister highlighted that recent floods have resulted in losses exceeding nine point five percent of Pakistan’s GDP. He expressed serious concern over the deteriorating water quality of the River Ravi, noting that it has become unfit for agricultural use, let alone drinking.

Dr. Musadik Malik appreciated WWF’s long-standing conservation work and reaffirmed the Ministry’s support and commitment to biodiversity protection and environmental sustainability.
