Lahore:The 31st death anniversary of the celebrated playback singer Munir Hussain was observed today.

According to Radio Pakistan, Munir Hussain's contributions to the music industry spanned from 1957 to 1965, during which he voiced numerous memorable songs for both Urdu and Punjabi films.

His notable duet with Noor Jehan for the film "Heer Ranjha," titled "Wanjli Walarya," brought him significant acclaim. Over his career, he recorded 217 songs across 163 films.

In recognition of his exceptional contributions to playback singing, the government of Pakistan posthumously awarded Munir Hussain the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2019. He passed away on this day in 1995 in Lahore.
